A husband asks his wife, “If I should die first, would you marry again”? “I would be heart-broken, of course,” was her reply. “But, I think eventually, I would remarry.”

“But you wouldn’t bring him here to our house?”

“Why not? I’ve worked and slaved to make this house a home. There is no reason to abandon it.”

“Surely, you wouldn’t let him use my golf clubs?” the concerned husband asked.

“Of course not! He’s left-handed!” she replied.

Sometimes knowing everything is not a good idea.  But have you ever had your spouse ask you,”What are you thinking about? ” and you did not want to answer because of what you were thinking??  Or did you ever have a friend who always knew more than you did about any subject that was brought up?  Made you feel dumb, didn’t it?  They probably did not know as much as they professed to know, but can you imagine what it would be like living with someone who really did know everything?

There is such a person.  He is God. He has never learned anything and cannot learn anything. He was never taught anything.  He has never been surprised. He has never discovered anything. He knows all that can be known.  He knows everything that can be known. He is omniscient.

He knows everything about you.

Psalms 139:1-4 (NKJV) O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.

He does not just know your thoughts….. He understands your thoughts.  He does not just know your ways….. He understands why you do what you do.  Do you understand why you do what you do all the time? I don’t, but He does…. Always.   He does not just know what you are going to say( which is amazing) but He understands why you are going to say it! Now I know you and I both say things and wish we had not, or think to ourselves, “Why in the world did I tell him that?” God knows it all.  Wow.

And He does not just know that you  exist, that you have children, that you have family with their own lives, maybe in other parts of the country or world, the Bible says He SEES them.

The patriarch Abraham and his wife Sarah were unable to have a child after many years. So Sarah gave Abraham her slave Hagar to be another wife so she could have a son.  When Hagar got pregnant, the soap opera began. Hagar and Sarah had a cat fight and it got so bad that Hagar ran away out into the desert, ready to end her life.  It was not her fault that she was the slave of Sarah, or that she was set up to have Abraham’s child.  She did not ask for this.

Sometimes things, horrible things, happen that we did not invite. Unfair, tragic things; an ugly divorce, the company downsizes and you lose your income, someone you love  and depended on gets a terminal illness. Not Fair.

Hagar is out in the desert, pregnant, and alone.  She and her baby will die.  But God saw her and sent an angel .

Genesis 16:9-14 (NIV) Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.” The angel added, “I will so increase your descendants that they will be too numerous to count.” The angel of the Lord also said to her: “You are now with child and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard of your misery. She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me..”

God blessed Hagar and her son.

It isn’t that God just knows about your trouble, He SEES it. Even for things that seem unfair….. He sees them. And He has a plan that will get you back on track.  This God that we serve is awesome.  He knows us. He sees us. He acts on our behalf.

Trust Him.
